HIFU focuses ultrasound energy to tiny points beneath the skin without breaking the surface. The handpiece holds cartridges set to different depths: the deepest reaches the SMAS, the fibrous support layer that surgeons lift in a facelift, and shallower ones work in the skin itself. Each point heats briefly, the tissue contracts, and the body lays down new collagen over the following months, which is why the lift builds gradually.
